What does winning mean to you?
Improved performance in the workplace? Developing or strengthening a skill? Better relationships with your loved ones? Or victory on the sportsground for you and your team? Whatever your definition of winning, this is the book for you.
In Win: Proven Strategies for Success in Sport, Life and Mental Health, mental skills coach and psychotherapist Jason Brennan along with sports commentator and mental health advocate Brent Pope outline the mental skills key to achieving success, illustrated by fascinating interviews with high-profile athletes, and explore how we can implement these winning strategies in our own lives.
Read about the experiences of successful athletes – such as AP McCoy, Ronan O’Gara, Sonia O’Sullivan, Bernard Brogan, Gary and Paul O’Donovan, Dan Carter, Conrad Smith and Beauden Barrett – and gain insight into how they used, and continue to use, mental skills to overcome obstacles and achieve excellence in order to create your own formula for success. In business, this might mean improved presentation skills, evolving a more effective leadership style, or improving team dynamics. In relationships and parenting, mental skills will reduce stress reactions and cultivate mindful interactions with colleagues, friends and family.
Mental skills are for everyone. And Win will show you how to bring what works so well in sports, and in the therapy room, into other areas of life and achievement – improving not just your performance but your wellbeing too. A key part of winning is learning how to keep going during times of adversity and to seek help where it’s needed. As well as how to work towards more consistent long-term success, this book will outline how to overcome mental blocks and more effectively manage the emotional fallout of mistakes and failures.
This book will help you on your journey to becoming the best you can be – setting goals, pushing your boundaries of achievement and dreaming bigger than what you might think is possible. To Win.
